I heard that the owner was killed in a traffic accident last year.

It's closed. The family set up tables and sold off a lot of the contents of the restaurant a couple of months ago. It was such a time capsule... And the owner and his family was so funny and nice. Now it looks like it will be a bar, there's some kind of fancy gothic writing on the new sign. We'll miss our guilty pleasure egg foo young at one of Second Avenue's old standbys.

Is this the location: 197 2nd Ave? East Village, 2nd Ave between 12th and 13th? If so, that restaurant has closed.
