Anyone interested in meeting nearby chowhounds?

LOCKED DISCUSSION
Den Dec 4, 2007 01:07 PM

I post some on the Fodors site and I always see posts for "FODORITE GTG" or "get together" and wonder if there's any interest here of anyone to form local groups and meet at restaurants or others homes for dinners...since we're all chowhounds of course.

me me me - i'm interested!

i'm involved with a couple social groups who stay connected through google groups... it's a quick setup and a clean interface that you can use with a free google/gmail account. if you do get something up and running, please keep us posted!

in the past, we've had two successful chow dinners, one at erawan and the other at los taquitos de pueblo... much fun and i'd be up for all sorts of other adventures.

though i shouldn't be so quick to assume you mean philly. the DC/bmore board seemed to have a good group going for awhile, but then again, that's a much smaller territory. i'd be interested in a philly area social group... seeing as much more widespread and you pretty much have chowhounds II. :)

even more specifically, i am most interested in learning more about the further reaches and less-traveled neighborhoods of the city. recently someone from one of our chow dinners emailed me about a korean place in olney, that type of stuff. ooooh, also that thread on the golden gate (russian) in the NE was practically screaming for a mass chow meetup.

Just make sure a veggie can eat there! I was not able to go to the last meetup due to dietary restrictions.

Also interested. My wife and I went to the Erawan dinner and enjoyed it very much. BTW, it doesn't have to be a meal, but that would be a pretty natural thing for Chowhounds to do.

I am very interested. I wasn't able to make it to the Erawan dinner due to dietary restrictions (I am a vegetarian). As long as I can eat well I would love to meet up.

My husband and I would be interested. We've enjoyed some DDC (Dangerous Dining Club) events but lately they seem to be held when we're not available.

My husband & I would be interested. We're also involved in a dining group (dining delicious) and are looking for some new members. There's 6-7 of us now and we try to meet every month at different homes, taking turns cooking different cuisines. It's been alot of fun so far. Let me know if you get this group together. (Rabidog... Love to get a group of chows together to try the Russian place ! )

We frequent restaurants in Phila and that's where the majority of the group is from. I'm in the suburbs.

In order to see if this will work, I think we need to have a locale road call. I'm in Flourtown, near Chestnut Hill.

I'd be up for this as well.
I'd be coming from the same area as Pat.. In the city pretty much every day. I'd say any location in Philly would be fine, as long as there is safe parking:)

Folks, we have a couple of guidelines we ask people to follow when planning these types of gatherings: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/36760...

We're going to lock this thread so the information isn't lost, but ask that someone please post a new thread with offline contact info for handling roll call/RSVPs.
