I bought 2 jars of this sauce at a local gourmet shop over the weekend. One with and one without San Marzano tomatoes. On this board and from my friend Jimmy C. all I hear is you gotta try San Marzano tomatoes. Well, I ate the regular jar first and it was just ok but tonight I opened the jar made with the San Marzano tomatoes and I started to moan! This had to be the best jarred pasta sauce I ever had in my life. Right from the first taste I noticed right away the difference in the tomatoes. I don't remember how much I paid for the jar but I am going back and buy more! Has anyone else tried this brand of sauce imported from Italy?

Maybe there is more than one DeLallo, but the one I'm familiar with is based right here in Pittsburgh, not in Italy. They do everything from bottled roasted peppers and lupini beans to canned artichokes and olives. They do have a line of sauces, some of which do incorporate San Marzanos. They're stuff is typically OK - better than many national brands but not what I'd consider "premium". What we find to be even better are the canned San Marzanos in thesimple 28oz blue and white can (cannot remember the name, but about all the mostly white label says is "San Marzano Tomatoes" with a picture of three tomatoes on it). Would recommend you simply buy those and make your own sauce with whatever ingredients you wish to use.
