OK How about lunch on Christmas Eve Napa/Sonoma?
OK We've pretty much figured out that xmas day will be a snugly snorer in Napa/Sonoma, but we may try to squeeze in to Auberge du Soleil for xmas dinner if possible, or maybe just drink wine in bed all day.....anyhoo....any of you hounds got a reco for lunch in sonoma or napa????Terra doesn't do lunch and we're going to Cyrus for xmas eve dinner, but are open to anything really......a preemptive thank you for any help in this matter;)
If you are doing XMas eve dinner at Cyrus, you should completely avoid looking at Napa restaurants for lunch -- that is one helluva drive! I would suggest wandering around the Sonoma Square, especially considering La Salette or Girl in the Fig for lunch. You will have an opportunity to stop into Basque Bakery as well as a number of lovely, smaller tasting rooms and affordable boutique shopping.
Similarly, go all the way to Healdsburg and wander their square -- same concept as Sonoma's square with a few more expensive shops but some great smaller restaurants and definitely more tasting rooms. For lunch, I would recommend Charcuterie.
Girl & the Fig appears to be open. That would be a great selection if you're dining at Cyrus. You can nosh and sample and save room for later. If you want to stay on the Napa side, both Redd and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen appear to be open. I highly recommend either.
If you do have lunch in Napa Valley, you should leave yourself plenty of time to get over the hill and up into Healdsburg. Also, I'd look into getting a car service or cab back. That drive is ugly enough without a few glasses of wine.
I'll third The Girl and the Fig. The steak frittes or the omelet of the day are great choices. They also have a good chesse selection and the wine list is eclectic and fairly well priced.
We also like Cafe La Haye but if I had to pick it would be the Girl.
