Before you put that bottle of Two Buck Chuck in your shopping basket, consider buying the 2005 Amaicha Torrontes for something far more palatable at the same price. it's been on the shelf for a while. The Trader Joe's on 9th Street in SF has a lot in stock.

Tasting note for 2005 Amaicha Torrontes from Mendoza -

I saw the TJ's on Masonic@Geary had Rabbit Ridge 2003 Petite Sirah (Paso Robles) Reserve on sale for $7.99. That wine usually retails in the $18-$20 range. Any comment?

There's a reason that wine has been discounted so deeply.... hot and unbalanced, I think.

I have tried the Amaicha Torrontes and I thought it was good. The other night I bought a bottle of the new 2007 Chilean Trader Joe's Sauvignon Blanc - I think it was $2.99. Not bad, although we did a comparison to the Charles Shaw 2006 Sauvignon Blanc and I preferred the Charles Shaw, which was slightly sweeter, but still very dry.

Nothing particularly special, but I think all of these white wines are palatable. I am not a fan of the red Two Buck Chucks.

I bought all of these at the same SOMA TJ's.
