Sushi Spot on Ventura, and Corbin, Tarzana

Agreed, fantastic sushi. Not the place to go for funky Americanized mayo rolls, but for traditional, super fresh sushi, this is the spot (did you see how I phrased that? so clever!). Their selection is always very impressive and they're always honest about which fish they feel is superior on any given day. The albacore belly and the stuffed baby squid are excellent! Be warned, you have to like warm sushi rice.

I have several friends who feel it's about the best in L.A., at least at that price (reasonable), and drive long distances to go there. I personally don't see how different it is from lots of other places on the other side of the hill, but yes, it's fresh and consistent (and very friendly), so it's survived.

re: cant talk...eating
I don't know how anyone can say the Sushi Spot has some of the best sushi? I have eaten there a number of times since the late 80's and they do a decent job for the price. I've never been poisened there either but absolutely nothing to get excited about.
There are so many places to get sushi in the Valley and all over Los Angeles this one just isn't special.
