it is an excellent sushi place. my parents love it there, they will go in and tell the chef to give them his best of the day and they have never been disappointed. their friend lived in Japan for a period of time and he only goes there.

Agree...it is excellent. The blue crab roll is great, the albacore sashimi excellent..and nice cold beer on tap. A nice crowd too...lots of regulars.

How does this place compare to Little Brother's, Brother's, Shibuya, and/or Sushi Iki for those who have been to both?

I went to Sushi Spot for the first time this week and have to say it's some of the best I've ever had. Everything was super fresh and the rice was deliciously seasoned and warmed. Fantastic meal!

I have several friends who feel it's about the best in L.A., at least at that price (reasonable), and drive long distances to go there. I personally don't see how different it is from lots of other places on the other side of the hill, but yes, it's fresh and consistent (and very friendly), so it's survived.

I don't know how anyone can say the Sushi Spot has some of the best sushi? I have eaten there a number of times since the late 80's and they do a decent job for the price. I've never been poisened there either but absolutely nothing to get excited about.

There are so many places to get sushi in the Valley and all over Los Angeles this one just isn't special.

I've never eaten at Sushi Spot. I have had mediocre to bad sushi at Brothers Sushi, although I know many people that love this place. I think Shibuya has excellent sushi. The setting is nothing, but the fish is super fresh and delicious.

Shibuya or Iki are much better alternatives. I did not enjoy my recent visit to Sushi spot.

Agreed, fantastic sushi. Not the place to go for funky Americanized mayo rolls, but for traditional, super fresh sushi, this is the spot (did you see how I phrased that? so clever!). Their selection is always very impressive and they're always honest about which fish they feel is superior on any given day. The albacore belly and the stuffed baby squid are excellent! Be warned, you have to like warm sushi rice.
