Were these to eat, or decoration? I make ones to decorate a buche de noel, by putting a toothpick in the cranberry, dipping in sugar syrup (could maybe use egg whites instead) and then dipping in granulated sugar.

MM- Thanks, these are to eat. The one I have used most was to make a pretty thick simple syrup, put the cranberries in while still warm, so they cook a bit, but don't burst open. Let sit in the syrup overnight, then drain and roll in sugar laid out on a cookie sheet. I was just hoping there was any easier method. I use these to dress up a salad, and they are good sweet and tart.
The show will be agin and I'll tape it if I don't get to watch it.

I saw the show last night, and if they did anything to the cranberries before rolling them in the sugar they neither showed nor described it (I don't think). But they must have used some kind of liquid or the coating wouldn't have adhered. I would think the simplest thing to do, as MMRuth mentioned, would be to toss them with a bit of egg white first.
