Cherry Wheat Beer - what to do?

  • 8

I got some Sam Adams Cherry Wheat hoping it might be similar to a blackberry-wheat beer I had. Ugh - it tastes like cough syrup. I have read the thread regarding what to do with Miller Lite, so in addition to the suggestions there, does anyone have any other ideas since this is a different type beer?

  1. As before with the Miller lite you might be able to use it in a sauce for pork, along with raisins, prunes, etc.

    1. It'd probably work well in some kind of sweet fritter batter.

That is a good idea. You can do some fried bananas with the batter and serve it with some vanilla ice cream. Maybe drizzle some good honey on top.

      2. I had a similar reaction to that beer and ended up using it for beer bread. It worked wonderfully!

        1. Wow, I love this beer. This is the first beer I tried in college that led me down the slipperly slope of becoming a beer geek.

          1. Oh, lord. I spent a week in Newark airport one afternoon, and the only alternative to Bud Light (in the Sam Adams bar!) was this Cherry Wheat swill. What to do with it? I don't know. Give it to someone you don't like very much?

            1. Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat is among the worst five beers I've ever tasted -- owing mainly to the hideous artificial cherry taste. I'm not exaggerating; I dumped my sample of it down the drain.

It is definitely a "2nd Stage of Beer Appreciation" level beer.
