Hidden gems on 5th Ave south of 9th St. in Park Slope

I've lived in Park Slope or South Slope or whatever (on 5th St.) for about six months and most of my foodie forays have been north of 5th St on 5th Avenue. Tonight I'm supposed to find someplace fun to eat farther south on 5th Ave, preferably south of 9th street. No real price or atmosphere issues. Just want to know what's the best food heading south. Can anyone help?
I'm a big fan of Kinara, the Indian place on 5th Ave. between 10th and 11th. Search this board for more posts about it.
Sidecar on 5th Ave ~ 14th St is good for food and drink. I had fantastic fried chicken there. There's a thread on Chowhound.
There's a new pizza place on 4th and 18th that everyone is raving about (for good reason). It's name is Peppe's pizza and calzone.
There's also Jirasol bakery on 5th and 21st(?)...they have delicious tacos.
Don't forget Bar BQ on 6th and 20th...not the greatest BBQ but after a few pints of ale and shots from their extensive whiskey selection you won't know the difference.
For two entirely different types of Mexican places, I would add Tacos Nuevo Mexico and Piramide. They are within a block of each other, I think around 12th or 13th Street.
