KC- P&L District Chef Burger?
Has anyone heard of Chef Burger supposedly from Rob Dalzell? I saw it on KC Forum Rag and wasn't sure if anyone had anymore details, it's supposedly going into Power and Light District.
Might be just a rumor, but sounds like an awesome idea to me!

Finally made it to ChefBurger.....and I really liked it.
I had the French Onion Mushroom Burger, Garlic-Parsley Fries and a Carmel Milkshake.
The burger was excellent - I meant to order it medium rare and forgot - but it came out that way anyway. Good for me - but people freaked out by pink hamburgers might be - well - freaked out. (My one girlfriend got the Bacon Cheeseburger with Blue Cheese and proclaimed it to be one of the best she's ever had. The others split a Patty Melt and thought it was good but want to try a burger next time.)
The shake was very tasty. Thick - but not so thick that I almost gave myself an aneurysm sucking it up (and I didn't get a brain freeze either).
The fries were ok. Nothing special. I wouldn't get them again.
My only complaint - it's too pricey. I spent $14.92 in all. I thought the burger and shake were outstanding but not worth almost $15.00.
I'm going back next week with another group of gals and plan to try something else.
The group I was with this week plans to try out Blanc in a couple of weeks....how the heck am I suppose to lose weight with this abundance of deliciousness??

We went to Chefburger last week... that was the deal for my husband being gone three weekends in a row hunting/ fishing! (This week the deal is Blanc burgers! I know how to bargain!) This is the first spin-off that I've been thrilled with. Souperman was severely disappointing, and Pizza Bella was just okay for me. But, Chefburger was fabulous! I had the bbq, bacon, bleu cheese burger, sweet potato fries, and a cappuccino milkshake (not grown-up). My husband had the widowmaker- fried egg and black bean and chipotle chili, garlic and parsley waffle fries, and a chocolate shake (also not grown-up). Both of the burgers were cooked perfectly for me- medium, and the toppings were great. Both burgers had a large onion ring on them, and you could actually bite through it and still keep it in tact- very important! The sweet potato fries were very good as well, but I thought in need of a dipping sauce. I like honey mustard with my sweet potato fries, and next time I will have to bring my own (only kidding!), because theirs was too spicy for the fries. The garlic parsley fries were the only disappointment- they were way too greasy for both of us. In fact, there was a large puddle in the bottom of the fry boat. Both of the shakes were thick and wonderful! All in all, a great success! And the Power and Light District is really looking cool too!

re: stellamystar
I personally like Souperman. I love the Boulevard Ale Cheese Broccoli soup. My only problem with Souperman is they don't have fountain drinks. Everything is bottled so therefor no refills...and after a big cup of soup and one of their wraps I really need something to wash it down. Alas I usually end up next door at the magazine rack and get me a big glass of iced tea.
The waffle fries and the garlic fries must be new...I don't remember seeing them on the menu when I went a few weeks ago..
What is Blanc burger?

I really wanted to like Souperman- I probably need to give it one more chance, but I just was so crushed the first time around.
Blanc Burgers and Bottles is in the old Tatsu's spot in Westport. It's owned by the same people of The Drop, which I love. They don't have a menu yet online, but I think they have some game burgers as well as beef burgers.

re: Jakevol2
I find both Souperman & Pizza Bella to be a bit inconsistent. I've had great meals at both - but - also some very disappointing meals.
The first time I had the calamari salad at Pizza Bella it was love at first bite - however - I've tried it a couple of times since then and it has sorely lacked seasoning.
Same way with the BBQ Brisket Sanditto at Souperman - usually excellent - unless you happen to get one overstuffed with carmelized onions and hardly a bit of brisket.
And...the Thai Coconut Chicken Soup & The African Peanut Soup seem to be different everytime I get them - though all versions have been VERY tasty.
Both places just inconsistent.....and good more often than not. I just don't get out for lunch as much as I use to and I prefer to go somewhere more dependable.
A group of us at work are going to try to make it down to ChefBurger this week....looking forward to it...however I can't find an online menu. Does anybody have a link to it (does it exist?)? thanks.

re: Mushroom
This article in the Pitch about Dalzell mentions that he doesn't use recipes which would explain the inconsistencies:
http://pitch.com/2008-03-13/news/kc-s...-
re: vsoy
I read that in the Pitch as well. It did explain the different versions of the same soups. (Which was comforting, as I was concerned that I was having some sort of memory problem.)
I actually meant to mention the article in my previous posting. (Which doesn't exactly rule out a memory problems.)-
re: Mushroom
I was going to post the same article but was too lazy. Besides I figure a person is going to like or dislike a restaurant despite what reviews, reputations or what have you come before a personal opinion about a restaurant. I mean I know how a lot of people feel about Yahooz but I still love the place.

re: FriendOfTheDevil
Everyone here steered me towards the Westport Flea Market - it is pretty darned good! You should make a stop there with your daughter - great character and a real one-of-a-kind place. Chef Burger is brand new and I'd like to get there soon. My daughter's and I gave up fries for lent so after Easter we'll check it out...can't have a burger w/out some fries. Your hotel is only minutes away from Westport!

I went to Chef Burger today for lunch. Kids, let me say this. This is the best burger going in Kansas City today. I got the French Onion burger with grilled onions sauted mushrooms and grueyer cheese, I had it grilled medium rare. It blew me away! It was worth walking six blocks from where I parked to get to the Power and Light District, putting up with scalpers for the Big XII basketball tournement on every corner, and then standing in line for another 20 minutes before ordering. I urge everyone to get down there and eat at Chef Burger.
It isn't the best burger I ever had that distinction still belongs to the burger from the now defunct Kabal's but this in no way diminishes how good this hamburger was. It really is the best you are going to find in KC.
