Who tried the little Italian spot...
Right across Lawrence Plaza, next to the Petro Canada station? The owner is the cook too. His stuffed canneloni are the very best. Even Mamma would blush with shame!

re: millygirl
Lawrence Square is the north part of the intersection of Lawrence West and Marlee Ave. The Petro Canada is on the SW corner of that intersection (with Sunoco on the SE corner).
The "allen" restaurant is "Allen Bar and Grill" that's just right beside the Petro Canada. I drive by there quite a bit and some of the restaurant in that strip seems a bit "shady". It would be nice to see a decent restaurant in this area thought :)

re: lamaranthe
do any of these storefronts look familiar?

re: pinstripeprincess
Aren't you smart ??? Would have a pic closer to Marlee and that gas station? Now we are all getting excited about this little ''road house'' (as it was qualified), but it is really worth the effort to find it. Unless, the owner disappeared or is not the cook anymore... That would be a real shame.

re: lamaranthe
it could be an old photo and so one of those locations were taken over and redone. the only place missing in that image on the far left would be the allen's place. so unless you see it in the photo link, there's really not much else to discern it from short of a drive over thre.

re: Googs
This is the coolest app. Thanks Princess.
Try going to http://toronto.virtualcity.ca/ and typing in the addresses above then you can slide the arrow on the map to move up and down the street.

re: lamaranthe
I drive by that area almost daily (very close to home). There isnt anything between the Petro Canada and Allen. BTW, there is also nothing between Sunoco and the TTC (Lawrence West stop), except for the Country Style inside Sunoco.
Do you have any other clue to what the store name or how it looks? I can see if I can spot something the next few days when I drive by there.

re: lamaranthe
As everyone's mom says" Don't judge a book by its cover". In this case it is true Allen Bar and Grill may look sketchy from the outside, heck it is even a little sketchy on the inside but you are missing out on some GREAT meals. It may not be fancy but it is really good home cooking, the eggs benedict is out of this world. I use to work near by and it was our go to lunch spot.
