Big Sur & Carmel/Monterey Peninsula w/2 yr old around Christmas?

We'll be in Big Sur 12/23 for 2 nights then Carmel for another 2 nights.

What are some 2 yr old friendly restaurants or eating places in those areas, and anyone have an idea what will be open restaurant-wise on 12/25 in Carmel, Carmel Valley, Pacific Grove or even Monterey?

Likely candidates for Big Sur are: Nepenthe, Big Sur Bakery, the restaurant at Big Sur Lodge.

I remember an excellent intimate Italian eatery on Ocean in Carmel, might seem a bit tight for a child. Is that place still around?

Thanx in advance!

  1. For the most part, the restaurants in Carmel are small, intimate and perhaps not the place for a 2 yr old in the evening. You may be thinking about Napoli on Ocean. It is no longer there. Forge in the Forest seems as if it might work for you. Do a Google. Nepenthe would be fine too.

    1. Make reservations for 12/25 if you can. Google to see if you can find a local restaurant association, which might now about 12/25.

You might have good luck with restaurants near the aquarium as holidays are big business for them. I recall several "kid-friendly near aquarium?" posts with positive responses.

Here's a list of all types of area restaurants from the Monterey Co Herald:
