Best Place for New Year's Eve?

Howdy all!

I'll be in New Orleans (French Quarter) for New Year's Eve with my fiance (assuming she says yes that day) and would like to celebrate with a nice dinner to celebrate. I'd like to keep my budget around $40 per person before drinks, gratuity and taxes if possible. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Thanks so much!

  1. Thats a low budget for anything festive.
If you want view with the fireworks - Bella Luna - you could go a little over budget tho...check their prices on the site www.bellalunarestaurant.com
Marigny Brasserie could be an option - Frenchmen is the place to be on NY's

Well, I just called "The Foundry", which is Bella Luna's event planning section and learned that Bella Luna didn't open back up after Katrina. Stupid Hurricaine.

For the budget, I'm figuring a split appetizer and a split dessert with 2 entrees. Looking around, I'll probably have to go over budget, but I'd like to keep it as low as possible (poor college student for the next year and a half).

oops...so sorry...was thinking about the view.
If you want to be by the action and all the amazing music give Marigny Brasserie a try. Its nice but low key.

Also Tip's always has a good show on New Years...you could do Dick & Jenny's right there.
Another could be Carmelo's - the food is pretty basic italian but they have a balcony that will allow you to view the fireworks.

There are fireworks on NY's eve?? (New in town.) I'm going to coat-tail on this request--I'd like to find a nice not too formal restaurant anywhere in town with entrees up to the mid twenties range for an early dinner on NY's ev (7pmish). Is this a really bad nite to try to go out to dinner in NOLA?

If you do not mind heading Uptown, I think Martinique Bistro could be good. My friend just proposed at Adolfo's on Frenchman and he got the answer he was looking for. Brigtsens may put you a tad bit over budget but is REALLY good.
