Don't know about candy caps specifically, but here's a recent thread on where to buy wild mushrooms.

You might want to contact King of Mushrooms and put in a request.

When they are available in general, all the stores that sell mushrooms have them. The place in the Ferry Building, Monterey Market, Berkeley Bowl.

I saw them at Monterey Market yesterday.

Fresh candy caps will be flushing starting later in Jan. Chantrelles and Queen, King and Butter boletes now. Matsutakes have also been spotted already. The season seems to be kicking off early and hard and probably won't be extended with and of the varieties. Contact me back if you need access to high quality matsutakes, boletes, chantrelles or later on, candy caps.

Another purveyor to watch for is Wine Forest Wild Mushrooms.

It currently supplies mostly restaurants, but will be moving into Oxbow market in Napa.
Or according to the email I rec'd from Relish La Traiteur, some mushrooms will be available this Friday. Might be worth a call to see what's available, if not candy caps. Here's the message,

Pick-up from 5-7 Thursday & Friday at 1755 Industrial Way, Suite #28 Kitchen 257-7219
We are excited to have our friend Mary Elke of “Elke Vineyards” (www.elkevineyards.com) pouring her lovely wines this Friday. Mary makes wonderful food wines; they are our “table” wines at home as I love pairing flavors with them. We will have some appetizers to taste, as well as beautiful green olives Mary harvested & brined this fall. Produce will be available in abundance. We will be featuring foraged & cultivated mushrooms from Wine Forest Wild Mushrooms . . . our wonderful neighbor Connie Green’s long time business here in the valley. You have enjoyed her mushrooms at MANY favorite restaurants here and throughout the Bay Area. Here’s to a joyful holiday season ahead! Bon Appetit! L&B"

These were available Monday at Monterey Market. They are probably available elsewhere.

Canyd caps were available at the Far West Fungi at the Ferry Building Thanksgiving weekend, so they should still be available. I had a cheesecake made from them and it was so delicious.

Far West Fungi at the Ferry Plaza has fresh candy caps right now, $18/lb. I've never seen them fresh, and was surprised how faint the smell was. These might be a type of mushroom that grows more intense as it dries.

I found them growing this past weekend. Very surprising as the usually don't flush till the winter.
