birthday lunch or tea

So, we can't get a babysitter so we can go out for dinner on my bday, but we're trying to plan a nice fancy-ish lunch, or something else that I love (but not so much the hubby) - high tea.

I work in Penn Quarter and he works in Foggy Bottom (but we're willing to travel reasonable distance somewhere downtown). Anyone have good ideas for a special lunch? Or where we can get a great high tea?

  1. I think the lunch menu at Butterfield 9 is great. Nice, comfortable environment with a seasonale menu. It will be easy for both of you to get to since its near Metro Center.

If you want to stick around Penn Quarter I believe PS7 is open for lunch and you might want to see if Proof is also open (although they are also known as a wine bar, so you might want to hold that off for a non-work day).
