I bought some cooked BBQ shredded pork I could only get it in a 4 lb. pkg. is it ok to thaw and seperate into smaller packages and then refreeze. thanks for any help you can give me

Defrosting and refreezing may cause some flavor and texture damage, but not certain of this.

If the meat is now frozen into a block form, why not take a large heavy knife to it and cut it into slices or chunks, then repackage using freezer paper or zipper bags, excluding air for less chance of freezer burn.

I've never had a problem refreezing shredded meats, as long as it's properly reheated before serving.

You don't have to thaw it completely...just let it defrost until you can break it apart into smaller chunks (I'd go with about a pound each). If there are still some deep ice crystals, you're fine.

I'm pretty sure the rule of thumb is to never refreeze meat products. I don't know if I would take the chance.
