Potluck - I'd like to use my fondue pot...

Foodrat Nov 28, 2007 04:04 PM

...which has been sitting in it's box since I received it 3 years ago as a weddng present.

Any ideas for something savory? I don't want to make a traditional cheese fondue, nor do I want to make a dessert fondue. Was thinking of something like a pesto based dip? Or even tomato based? I'm not opposed to a dip with some cheese...

Please, any ideas or recipes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Something like Artichoke dip may fare well in a fondue pot. Personally, I find that pesto just isn't as good when cooked but I think I'm just picky when it comes to pesto. You can make like Swedish meatballs or something and keep them warm in the fondue pot with that good sauce. Also, though this isn't good for potlucks, you can use your fondue pot as a sort of shabu shabu style dining where you boil some flavored broth and sort of cook your meat and stuff in it.

Maybe a modified buffalo dip like the one that people pass around here a lot. Hot sauce, blue cheese dressing, cheddar and shredded chicken, warmed up and served in the fondue pot with celery and crackers?

Oh wow! Bonnie's Buffalo Chicken Dip sounds perfect! (For all the *good* food that I eat and love, I love bar food!) I'll try it out using the fondue pot to keep it warm this weekend... Thanks!
