Best Reception for a wedding

I know this may not be a wedding related website, but I am planning a wedding reception for about 150+ people and would love to do it in a space (hotel in Boston) with awesome food options. Any suggestions?

  1. if money is no object, we attended a fabulous wedding at Rowe's Wharf with great food. Also a very nice one at the Sonesta in Cambridge. Both would have big enough spaces.

We have attended wedding receptions at the Sonesta too, and Le Meridien on Franklin St., the Fairmont Copley Plaza and the old Ritz Carlton, now called The Taj. Each was elegant, with delicious food and every amenity imaginable. Between Boston and Cambridge there are many fine hotels that have accommodations for a lovely wedding reception.

    2. I went to a wedding reception at the French Library in Back Bay, in the spring, it was very nice and around the size that you are looking for.

      1. I had my daughters wedding shower (150) at the Sonesta and recommend this place with 5 stars... The food is still being talked about 3 years later. We had a crepes station for dessert, a mashed potato bar and the salads, food were out of this world. I often wish I could have the meal once again.

Ok a now know what I want at my future wedding...a mashed potato bar!! That is my favorite food and therefore my dream come true. Just out of curiosity how was it set up?

Of course now I need a fiancee ;)

        2. I went to a wedding reception a couple years ago at the Aquarium that had surprisingly amazing food. I'm not sure who does their catering.

          1. The Four Seasons knows how to do it.
            Enjoy,

I went to a wedding at the Sonesta and it was beautiful. The food was amazing for wedding food. I was surprised how good the food was and there were over 300 people. Very gourmet and very beautiful. The ceremony over looked the Charles River in Cambridge and it was an extraordinary view.

            2. We just had my brother's wedding reception (a brunch, the wedding was in Hawaii) at the Boston Harbor hotel and I thought the food was great. I've been to a number of other receptions there and have really enjoyed the venue and the food. The staff there was great to work with. I imagine it's not cheap, especially for one of the spaces with an excellent view, but if you have the budget its certainly worth it.

              1. As a guest have been to The Taj and Rowes Wharf. Both are elegant venues. You would not be disappointed.

                1. I just got married in September and we had ours at the State Room. We got tons and tons of compliments on the food (note, we did a buffet), the room was outstanding, the staff top notch, and the view is unreal (even though we had the "City Side" room which has the worst view).

                  1. I also recommend the Royal Sonesta. I had my wedding reception there and I feel the room is unique, the view is unparalleled, and the food is creative and artistically displayed. WE had a cocktail reception, with passed hors d'œuvres and stations wiht a comfort food twist: mini grilled cheeses with creamy tomato soups in shot glasses, creamy baked mac and cheese served in martini glasses with a toasted cheese cracker as decoration, we also had a nacho bar, a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich/sundae bar, and I also know guest still bring up the food! it was very memorable!
