Christmas Party Dinner

I'm in charge of planning my team's Christmas dinner this year and am not from the Toronto area. Could anyone give me some suggestions following these guidelines:

* Within walking distance or short cab ride to Bay & Wellington (downtown)
* Range of cuisine options (from pasta to steak)
* Mid-price level... around $20-$30/person for an entree
* Full bar not necessary but must have beer!

I'd like to go some place with a nice atmosphere but it doesn't need to be gourmet.

Beerbistro and Irish Embassy are both decent options and there is also PJ O'Brien's around the corner and the same owners as Irish Embassy.

Can you tell us how many people and whether you're looking for a fixed price menu or not? Also, are you looking for a private room?

The group will be 10-12 people, fixed price would be a good idea but not a necessity, and a private room would also be nice but if the place is big enough it's also not a necessity. Thanks!!

Great, thanks for the info. I'd second the recs for Beerbistro and Mill St. Brew Pub. The former is more upscale in atmosphere, but has a spectacular beer list. The latter is definitely more pubby, but has a fun casual vibe. Both have good food within your price point.

Beerbistro also has a private back room that is great. It's not connected to the main restaurant (except through the kitchen), so if you book there you'll lose out on the main restaurant experience, but have a dedicated server in a private back room.

There's the Irish Embassy for upscale pub atmosphere. Further east, within walking distance depending on the weather, or cab - the Hot House Cafe, about a dozen beers on tap.
Futher east, definitely a cab drive, the Mill Street Brew Pub in the Distillery District, good for groups.
