Help choose between Mix and Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay

i've done the research and i know you are going to say fleur de lys; but we are going with friends for a birthday and mix just looks so cool - is the food really that overrated? or can i book knowing it will be enjoyable if not the "BEST" ever.
or should i book at fleur de lys

thanks in advance for any help you can provide

  1. you've probably seen a fair share of commentary from me on the board - Mix is cool and i highly recommend for drinks and maybe apps - especially at sunset....i have eaten at mix 3 times now - but the last time was over a year ago - maybe it's improved did receive a michelin star so maybe the food has improved ( my guess - having a star executive french chef helps ) - fleur de lys is not a hip. cool place - but it's very nice - if you go there make sure you ask for a few flowers from the "wall "'s kinda neat and the ladies will like it.

i just ate at fleur de lys a few weeks ago - the Chef Keller was there making the rounds - that was nice but the service was a little slow p they did apologize in advance - advising that several severs called in sick - the food was very good ...if you do MIX can you share the experience with us ?

    1. I've eaten at Mix twice and I've referred several groups there for dinner. I have not dined at Fleur de Lys, but I have heard very good things. Our dinners at Mix have been excellent, and the people I've referred raved about it. I would not call it the best restaurant in Vegas by any means, but the food is very good, the atmosphere is awesome (if you want something upscale, fun, incredible view, amazing bar after dinner, etc), and we've always found the service to be great. For a birthday dinner with a group, I would go with Mix.

We ate at Mix last December and had a blast. Great server. I asked him if I could keep the tasting menu as the two bottles of sparkling wine had impaired my memory of the specifics of the deliciousness of the meal. He then gave us a tour of the kitchen and introduced us to the executive chef and the sous chef and had them sign the menu. I love that place! You should have a great time!
