Chrusciki (Angel Wings)

honbun26 Nov 28, 2007 07:46 AM

Does anyone know of a local bakery that makes these delicious treats?

I just threw out a whole box of European Angel Wings.
My Polish grandmother (from Greenpoint, Brooklyn no less !) brought some over for Thanksgiving, and we had too many deserts.
I'll save them for you next year.
Open the phone book and call the non-spanish bakeries.

If you're looking in Baltimore, try Ostroski's (it's a Polish sausage place, but I think they have them at the counter) or Sophia's in Broadway Mkt (if it's still there).

Ostrowski's carries them during holiday time. I'd call in advance 410 327 8935.

Sophia's is still there, but I don't know if they carry them 410 342 6105.

Sophia's is not only still there, but she expanded awhile back, taking over the potato chip/bakery stand next door.

I don't know if she sells Chrusciki...I go their for sausage.

Wegmans sells them, and they're pretty good (though I haven't had the home-baked, real bakery kinda version).

I have made my own for several years now for Christmas. Very time consuming but I always get rave reviews on them.

I would check with the Kielbasa Factory in Rockville, Md. I'm excited to check it out myself.

Also, there are several area Russian Gourmet stores. http://www.kielbasafactory.com/
