Anniversary Dinner

I am wondering about several places but need some help. We have gone to Gramercy Tavern ($220) and Babbo ($250) during past anniversary dinners but don't want to spend as much money this time. (We are planning on a trip somewhere) Anyhow, we would like to spend about $60-70 per person. We will work with pretty much any cuisine and wouln't mind a place in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

  1. Two place in Manhattan which I think would be very nice for an anniversary dinner, and where you should have no difficulty meeting your budget:

Gascogne is a cozy, charming French bistro with excellent food.

At Pamplona, talented Chef/owner Alex Urena is serving delicious contemporary Northern Spanish cuisine in a space with very pleasant ambiance.

For Brooklyn suggestions, you should post on the Outer Boroughs board.

    Happy Anniversary and Bon Appetit!

I highly recommend Vice (pronounced "Veecha") Versa. It will fit your pocketbook and the Northern Italian fare is excellent. The place is appealing looking as well.

I think this is a great opportunity for you to explore Brooklyn's dining scene.

As much as I liked Al di La, that might not be the place to go this time...but perhaps Saul or Applewood. Your budget will be just right, the food and atmospheres are on par with your needs and its a bit of a change of pace.

I also have to respectfully disagree with RGR on her choice of Pamplona. While I enjoyed my dinner there (both in its recent incarnation and when it was more "formal" and known as Urena), the atmosphere is seriously lacking - almost depressing and the food is better for group sharing (for 4 or more)...but that's just my take on it.

    2. Highly recommend Bouley -- warm service, great food, and an affordable Prix Fixe that has been part of my wife's and my first-date anniversary every year since we met.

You can't get out of Bouley for dinner under $70 per person.

      2. Apizz, the Orchard, Giorgio's of Gramercy, August. All romantic and within your price range.
