great restaurants in south devon

hello all, I am forced to spend an extended period of time looking after elderly family members in south hams region, near newton abbot. Anybody have recommendations for good food, basic pub grub and high end restaurants too. I know the locally raised meat is superb in that area so I'm looking forward to buying quality from the local butchers but we will want a break. Where to go?
