Brighton Beach suggestions?

I'm making a trip to Brighton Beach this weekend and would love suggestions for the best Russian places to eat and what to get there? Thanks!

  1. One day, after sunning, I was looking for a place to eat so I stopped a woman who was coming out of the upscale predominantly Russian beach condos and asked her where she'd go....she recommended The International (Upstairs, above the food shop)....both the food shop and the cafe upstairs were great finds that I looked forward to visiting whenever I went to the beach...-very reasonable prices-delish food-wonderful pirogies and other things I tried that I can't spell!....It's right on Coney Island Avenue down around 4th St (I think it's 4th..)

That's Brighton Beach Ave., Under the "el".

    2. Cafe Glechik, on Coney Island Avenue, right before the beach, is a fun down-to-earth Ukrainian/Russian place with great dumplings, soups, and a casual BYOB atmosphere. Went there Friday and my out-of-town parents loved it.

Yes, the rabbit stew is delicious, as are the pelmeni, pickles, soups etc. Fun place.
