Recipe For Rum/Bourbon Balls Without Nuts?

Does anyone have a terrific recipe (no cook) for Rum or Bourbon Balls without any nuts?

  1. Search this board for Midnight Rum balls. I just made my first batch of the season tonight with bourbon instead of rum and without nuts....they're always a hit. I think I'm going to try a batch with TJ's Candy Cane Jo-Jos and peppermint schnapps tomorrow.

      Oh those Midnight Rum Balls are good! One of my girlfriends just asked me to make her a batch for Christmas. I use bourbon too. Here's the link:

        One note: Be conservative with the amount of liquid - hold a bit back when you first mix it in. Others have reported a goopy mixture when using the full amount of liquid. Or perhaps it depends on the humidity of the environment. Dunno, but definitely don't add too much rum (or bourbon, or whatever).

          Oh man, I made those last year due to the recommendations from this board, and oh man, they were incredible! My mom was very skeptical of the Oreos, but she was won over after the first bite.

          Do you substitute anything else if you take out the nuts

            I've been adding raisins soaked in bourbon, in addition to the nuts called for. Just made mine tonight and they are stellar if I do say so myself, I used nuts and raisins. I also upgraded to a Dutch cocoa that I got from King Arthur, that could be the best trick of all. Hersheys is ho hum.
