Business Lunch near 17th Street and PA Ave

I am an LA hound looking to have a business lunch near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. I wanted to know if there were any recs for this area within walking distance.

Is it possible to walk to these establishments: Central, Brasserie Beck, or Capital Grille?

Thanks for any response!!

You would not want to walk to any place you have listed. You are, however, practically on top of BLT Steak. BLT may not be the favorite steakhouse in DC, but it is a perfect business lunch spot.

IMO here's the thing with BLT. The steaks are awesome and the food is really top notch steakhouse food with a bit of a modern take/presentation. Now if you are not a lobbyist/k street lawyer or look the part, be prepared to be treated like you don't deserve to be there. It's a shame b/c I may have had one of the best steaks of my life there.

Brasserie Beck wouldn't be too far of a walk.(And worth it...the food is great) Central is a pretty far walk I would imagine but doable. Shorter taxi ride though for both of these places...easier then walking.

Also nearby is Occidental and Georgia Brown (although you should post about the noise level there during lunch because when I've had dinner and brunch there it was far to loud to conduct a business meeting there. Great food though).

I also highly recommend Butterfield 9 which is at 600 14th St (a short walk away). Wonderful food and perfect for a business lunch.

Brasserie Beck is actually a pretty far trek... All the way from 17th to 11th (which is more blocks than the math would calculate) and up a block or two, as well. I wouldn't walk it, but it wouldn't be an expensive cab. Central is probably just as long of a walk as BB from that area.

Thanks for all the posts. Yes, I am definitely looking for something convenient in walking terms to my location.

Am I close to Charlie Palmer's or Monocle?

No unfortunately you are not they are even further than your other suggestions. If you are looking for a steakhouse the Palm and Morton's are both probably within walking distance. Morton's is about 3 blocks, the Palm I think may be 4 or 5. And BLT steak of course...

The other places listed above are all about 3 blocks.

You are not close to either of those. (And for the record I've heard not so great things about the Monocle's food...I think it's more of a place to go to check out the scene and hope you run into Ted Kennedy)

I think the best place for you would be Butterfield 9 or Occidental.

i too had heard mixed reviews on Monocle but you know what? it is really pretty decent! The bar is very cool gentlemanlclub-ish and the service sort of old fashioned and very courteous. It's fun to sit in there and look around at all the pics of famous people too. I guess what i'm saying is the atmosphere & service are quite worth checking out, and the prices pretty reasonable. Food is good -- won't win any awards for novelty -- but one of my fave things about it is that people there are DRESSED PROPERLY...one of my big pet peeves in this and every other city. Yes, the crowd is a little long in the tooth but those folks were raised that if you go out to dinner at a nice restaurant you look the part.....what a concept...!!!

If you are looking for great steak in a business environment The Prime Rib is only a couple of blocks from you. The food is great (particularly it's namesake) but you should know that a jacket is required for gentleman.

The places you listed would be a bit of a walk, but you would be very close to the Oval Room, BLT Steak, Bombay Club, Restaurant K by Alison Swope and Equinox (although it might not be the best business lunch setting). You could also get a cab to the listed places.

Equinox is great and for lunch I imagine it would be fine for a business lunch. The tables are well spaced out so you won't have to worry about people listening in and the food is top-notch, seasonal, and locally sourced.
