Steakhouse in Irving open for lunch?

Can anyone recommend a nice place to get a steak at lunch time near Texas Stadium?
We'll be staying near there for the Cowboys game and would like to get a steak on our way out of town.

  1. Many to choose from. Price range?

    1. Upscale is great, just has to be open for lunch. It's for a 60th birthday

I would rec. Pappas Bros. It is not far from the stadium at all.

Please disregard**** Not open for lunch. Sorry.

      2. Anyone else have a suggestion? Maybe we'll have to travel a bit farther but we'll be coming from the stadium area at lunch time.

Will you be dining on a Sunday? Almost no upscale steakhouses are open at lunch, and even those which do serve lunch do not open on weekends; some are closed altogether on Sundays (e.g. the mentioned Pappas Bros). I'm afraid at lunch time on weekends, you're restricted to the chains: Texas Land & Cattle, Salt Grass, Outback. None of these are upscale. None of these would I recommend for a superior steak. But there you have it if you're stuck on steak at lunch time.

On a Friday afternoon...Stephan Pyles or Fearings?

        2. There's always Cool River Cafe in Irving which is open for lunch 7 days a week. I'm not a huge fan of the place, but when I worked in Irving, this was where everyone wanted their birthday lunch to be.

They don't serve prime beef, just angus, but they have many steak options. The decor is upscale and the food is probably better than the other steak chains. The service is also above average.

We have a Cool River in Austin and their steaks are pretty good.

You can also try the Keg (http://en.kegsteakhouse.com/locations...). It's a steakhous echain originated from Canada and the Canucks in my office absolutely love it.

I have been there several times for lunch - it's not a top-of-the-range steakhouse but I think it's much better than TLC or Saltgrass.

I can also support the choice of The Keg--have had both decent steaks and decent wine, reasonably priced, there. Not the top of line steaks, but good enough for a nice lunch and definitely better than TLC or Salt Grass. If you're willing to come into Dallas, in the Crescent Court Hotel complex, Capital Grill is open for lunch on weekdays--it's one of the better steakhouses in Dallas on any day of week.

Cool River is OK, in the full sense of the word. Stay away from that shiner-marinated monstrosity, though. It's an abomination.

          2. Sounds great!
