I am searching for a sushi place, preferably hole-in-the-wall, that serves authentic sushi - no rolls, no crazy sauces, or deep-fried fish, mayo etc.... Just fresh nigiri and sashimi.
Oh, is run by Japanese people (not Korean, Chinese, Malaysian..)

The only really good place I know of in the outer boroughs that fits your criteria is Taro Sushi on Dean St. just off of Flatbush Ave. in the far northern part of Park Slope. Otherwise, you really have to go to Manhattan to find this.
I think a search for authentic Japanese sushi can be called something like "obstinate traditionalism" or "foodie particularism". If I were looking for Korean raw fish the post would be called "Authentic Hwe?"
I'm with you. It's hard to find the real thing. My favorite is in Long Beach, Long Island. Nagahama is run by Hide, a real bona-fide sushi chef, and his nigiri and sashimi are authentic and excellent.
I wish I could find quality sushi in the Long Island City area where I live and work. Alas, alack.
