The duck dog at Hank's Haute Dogs, Oahu
If it's Saturday and you're hungry, I highly recommend a pit stop at Hank's Haute Dogs. That's the day that the duck-n-foie gras sausage is the special. It's like having a fancy appetizer at a swank restaurant, except it's on a bun and costs 10 bucks (instead of, say, $18). The sausage is a rich log of real duck and liver taste. Kitchen manager Ashley has concocted her own confiture of pretty much every dried fruit under the sun...pear, apple, raisins, cranberry...and that sweetness balances out the sausage to perfection. And yesterday, Hank's just extended it's Saturday hours to 9 p.m. Hallelujah. Duck dog for dinner next weekend!

Last night we tasted the evening menu (Fri.& Sat) and it's awesome. Three cheese truffled macaroni & cheese, reindeer sausage, the lobster dog (which I've had before and really liked), and the staple of life in Chicago (besides hot dogs & pizza) Italian beef with all the peppers and dipped in the gravy, just delicious delicious delicious! There was suggested pairings of spirits with the beverages on the menu, I knew that pineapple ice would work with vodka, what a winner! Bravo Hank, Ashley, Michael and the whole crew!

re: HIeats
The macaroni & cheese combines yellow & white cheddar with copious amounts of heavy cream enhanced by white truffle oil from Piedmont. The reindeer sausage comes from Indian Valley Alaska and at the preview was served with cranberry & pineapple but will be offered with any of Hank's condiments which you know is many. The Grand Opening of the Friday and Saturday night dining is tonight and tomorrow until 9:00 p.m. It is BYOB so that's a nice option. I am dying to eat more mac & cheese!
