Giovanni's Trattoria - Still a Gem

Last evening, DW and I went to Giovanni's Trattoria on the spur of the moment, and had a wonderful dinner. This place is still a gem. Great food, excellent service, a welcoming vibe, and no dreaded-trendies.

We started with insalata Giovanni and pepperonata, both of which we shared and enjoyed. We had rigatoni bolognese and pasta with lamb ragu, both of which were excellent and paired well with a bottle of zinfandel we brought along to try.

We went early to avoid the rush. Surprisingly, the place was still uncrowded when we left a little after 7 p.m. I hope the crowd came later, because this place is a terrific neighborhood trattoria. And corkage is still just $3.00.

We'll be returning more often.

  1. They make the best Torta della Nonna in LA.

    1. You had me at $3 corkage. This is one of the few places in Culver City that I just haven't managed to get to yet, and I'm not sure why. Especially now that Cucina Paradiso has become enedible. Thanks for refreshing my memory about this place.
