Potato flour for breadbaking

smooncakes Nov 24, 2007 08:00 PM

Hi, does anyone know where I can get potato flour for baking potato bread in the greater Boston area? King Arthur's sells it online, but with a $6 shipping charge on a $4 bag of flour...

Harvest Co-Op in Cambridge has it.

Bet either the Russian stores in Allston (Berezka or Bazaar) or the food coop in Central Sq have it.

Super 88 should have it, and pretty cheap, too.

Potato flour, or potato starch? I've bought the latter there....

              Sorry, it's potato starch.

Whole Foods has it, but the bag seemed very small. You should check if they carry bigger packages though. It may be cheaper than shipping it,

You rarely need more than a cup or even a half-cup of potato flour per recipe, so those small bags from Whole Foods actually last through quite a few recipes.

The bigger Shaw's also carry it. Their flours are in two places, in the baking aisle and in the natural foods section.

It's with the Bob's Red Mill products in both Whole Foods and Shaw's.

Ocean State Job Lot has a full aisle of Bob's Red Mill products. I've never seen so many grains etc in one place. I only know the one on Endicott st in Danvers, not sure about their other stores.
