Where do I find salsify?

We just got back from dinner at CraftBar. I had an amazing dish of scallops with chanterelles and salsify. Until tonight, I had no idea what salsify was. It's a root vegetable that tastes incredible. I'd love to roast some at home- any idea where it's available in Manhattan? I usually get my food from Freshdirect and see they don't have it.

Manhattan Fruit Exchange at the Chelsea Market has always had salsify as well. No need to wait for Greenmarket days.

The Union Square Greenmarket has salsify! I know for certain they have it at Paffenroth Farms. It's on the west side of Union Square, directly across the street from Coffee Shop.

the greenmarket is always the best choice, but if you need salsify on a day when the market isn't open, you should be able to get it at whole foods...and stores like gourmet garage or maybe even garden of eden.

Also, though it's far from you - I always end up going to Eli's if I'm in search of a produce item I can't find elsewhere.
