Fancy Birthday Breakfast

Hello! I am trying to think of a place to bring a friend for breakfast for her birthday that is special. We will be meeting on a weekday & prefer the westside to beverly hills. I am wondering if one of the nicer hotels might be good? or is there some place with a view? of course good food is a must as well. I have many favorite breakfast places (urth cafe, amandine, city bakery, literati etc) but none of them have that special quality I am looking for to celebrate. help!

  1. I would suggest Sunday brunch at Hotel Bel-Air

I second Bel Air. Good food, fancy, great view and atmosphere.

      1. If the atmosphere is as important to you as the food (as I suspect it would be for a birthday bash), then a first-class hotel such as those suggested is the place to go. I would add the Coast Cafe at Shutters on the beach in Santa Monica.

But if food quality trumps decor or view, then a weekday is the perfect opportunity to beat the weekend crowds at John O'Groats on Pico in Rancho Park.

Biscuits to die for, buckwheat pancakes ... as I say, no atmosphere, but the best breakfast in L.A.

        Links all around ...

        Hotel Bel-Air
701 Stone Canyon Road, Los Angeles, CA 90077

        John O'Groats
10516 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064

        Peninsula Beverly Hills
9882 Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA

One Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405

        1. How about the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Doheny? I've heard that it's where the powerbrokers meet for breakfast, if that's any indication of anything.

Also, the breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel is supposedly very nice.
