Napa New Years Day
There have been postings here about dining in Napa on New Years Eve which I have read with interest since I will be doing same. But suddenly it has hit me: what does one do on New Years Day in Napa? I mean besides hole up someplace to watch bowl games.
I have checked a few wineries of interest and find that the ones I looked at will all be closed New Years Day. So is Copia. Anyone know of wineries that will be tasting on that holiday? And what else might one do in Napa on the holiday before reluctantly heading for home?

Several years ago (when I lived there and had guests for the holiday), we just went out on Highway 29 and started driving...
There WERE a handful open (but not many). If memory serves; Freemark Abbey and Markham and one or two others just north of St. Helena.

Sunshine Market in St. Helena, 7 miles down Hwy. 29 is the best. Great gourmet prepared foods, deli, salads, sushi -- just wonderful. Order ahead, or go in the day before.
In Calistoga, Cal-Mart for cheese and deli meats, but the hot foods look really awful.
And Busters, the BBQ joint right at the flashing red stoplight. A coupla video stores in town too. Here's some more info:
