What are your expectations and dining preferences? I found Cyrus to be outstanding on many counts yet it's not among my favorite destinations, but that has to do with my personal requirements for a memorable dinner. What are yours? Then we might better help you...

Thanks for your reply. I would say great and interesting food is the overwhelming priority. Less important is atmosphere, TFL like service, etc.
Any other ideas in S.F. would be much appreciated.

You must have read the Cyrus posts on this list.
FYI it is in Healdsburg which is 70 miles north of San Francisco. If you are coming to Sonoma County, Cyrus is a good choice. French Laundry is in Napa County. If you are staying in San Francisco, that 70 miles can take between 1 1/2 and 4 hours to travel by car (forget public transportation!).
Sit down with a map & your travel plans, before stretching yourself too thin. There are many wonderful restaurant choices in San Francisco, Marin County and the East Bay.
Enjoy your journey.

It depends... if you get suckered into spending $500 per person.... it will never, ever, ever be worth it (unless you just have more money than you will ever know what to do with)....
How to spend $500 pp? Expensive Champagne & Caviar + Tasting Menu + Premium Wine Pairing... will easily get you there... and they will push the Champagne & Caviar pretty hard...
If you do a 3 course meal & bring your own bottle of wine... probably worth it. I recommend steering towards the dishes with more Asian influence (like the Hamachi in Cucumber Broth)... because I think that is what makes Cyrus distinctive among Cal-French restaurants in the area...
Note... critics of Cyrus will point out that the ambiance is very poor for the price... and the service is quite Disney-esque.
