OK, all these places have been open for a week or two, and hopefully they have had some time now to iron out their problems.

I went to Farmer Brown this weekend and had a simple meal: Wedge Salad followed by a Pulled Pork Sandwich. Nothing special, but definitely worth the money and visit. The salad was fresh and delicate, if not incredibly original. But what can I say, I'm a sucker for blue cheese, iceberg, and radishes... The pulled pork was also merely solid. All in all, Farmer Brown seems like a decent enough neighborhood place that I wouldn't hesitate to frequent again.

Anyway, I'm curious about the other three, as I'd like to try them over the next week or so. I saw a quick post on Brick, but nothing was mentioned about the food. Has anyone been yet? Is it a tapas-esque place?

I have heard nothing about Senses (on Valencia, aka Watercress) or Sparrow (on Nob Hill ... http://www.sparrowrestaurant.com/). Both are French-Asian. Comments/feedback?

Haven't been to Brick yet, but based on reports I've heard and a cursory scan of their menu I won't any time soon. "Watermelon salad w/olives and cheddar cheese" - you have got to be kidding me.
And do we really need yet another overpriced, tender-nob, "share plates" place?

I eagerly anticipated this one; it's right around the corner from my condo. It is a nice space, and quite large, which was a surprise. I seem to have sat at the same table every single time I went into Tappe's for cheap breakfast. The service was friendly, even when I walked in without a reservation at prime time on a Friday night. They have plenty of counter seats, both at the window, in front of the kitchen, and at the bar, of course.

The food was good. Nothing terribly innovative, but enough creativity on the menu to keep it interesting. It's too expensive, though, particularly for that stretch of Sutter. Everything should have been $2 less per plate.

I also sat at the counter in the window, on the end. I was near a huge floral arrangement, which turned out to be fresh, and which turned out to have really fragrant lilies. Heavy floral scents within fork distance of any seat is not exactly ideal for a restaurant.

My server was pleasant. They need to tighten up timing a little, but again, this was within the first 2 weeks of opening. I'll definitely go back, but it's priced as an occasion restaurant and I was hoping for true drop in place.
