A pre-Thanksgiving graze thru White Plains...

Thought I would offer holiday wishes around White Plains last night so I made my rounds...First stop was the new Prophecy, formerly Coughlan's, where I tried the Filet Mignon Quesadilla with my cocktail and it was really good. New exotic banquettes have you sitting underneath Arabic-style curtains. The fireplace was warming. Big bar. I understand there's a nightlife scene later in the evening. Did walk over to see the new La Bocca Ristorante on Church St. It had received a bad review recently, but I feel it just needs some time to mature. Had a selection from the cold antipasto table...I noticed that Antipasti was now open down the street but decided to check that out at another point...Left for Bengal Tiger to chat with owner Simson Kalathara and enjoyed an order of his giant Chennai Prawns, they are incredible, like small lobster tails, and quite flavorful...Then moved over to Mulino's down on Court St. where the house was in the midst of setting up for their annual over-the-top Christmas Fest, a must see! I was told the decorating would be complete early next week. My coffee and Italian cheesecake (one of the best in my opinion) were a good cap to the evening...Anyone been?

  1. Yes, Mulino's has done their over the top Christmas themeing for years, it's great. Not sure if they still put disposable cameras on everyones table but that was always a nice touch. I've had giant prawns (not at Bengal Tiger) and didn't care for them. I thought they were tasteless. But it sounds like a fun night (I take it you weren't cooking for Thanksgiving).

Thanks for your response and happy Thanksgiving...actually our group did cook up a storm in CT. Some dishes were prepared in advance. We deep fried our turkey this year and it was a treat...More stops in White Plains coming shortly.
