Frisson

Invariably, I find myself increasingly "bored" of the food at restaurants like this (meaning, this price range, the "California"-ish menu, etc) - the menus all start blurring together, an overwhelming sense of sameness. Looking at the decor at Frisson, I was wary, it just seemed to be too trendy for it's own good.

In the end, I had a great meal at Frisson (inspired enough to post, it's been a while!). Every dish I had was delicious, artfully prepared with an element of surprise. Quick overview, I started with the wild mushroom tart. Great buttery crust, mushroom-y goodness . . . I only wished the portion was larger! (My dining companion had the pb&j foie gras, was pretty enthusiastic about it.)

For the entree, I got the steak frites. I didn't expect the steak to be pre-sliced, and the potatoes were cut much thicker than I usually prefer. Nevertheless, everything just came together perfectly.

I got the chocolate pumpkin bread pudding for dessert. A solid end to the meal.

A couple glasses of wine, three courses with nary a miss, I left pretty satisfied and happy!
