Your best bet is to check out this recent post,
http://www.chowhound.com/topics/348744
then maybe call a few. According to my co-op student (who is of Indian descent) pretty much all of the local Indian places have lunch buffets.
Then swing by the Brookdale 8 cinema and catch a Bollywood flick!
Good luck, and enjoy!

How about South Asian Foods, up by Central Ave and Hwy 694?
It's a small Indian grocery with a deli counter in the back. Last time I was there (back in the summer), the owner mentioned a weekend brunch - I'm not sure if it's a buffet or if it's order-at-the-counter, as on weekdays, with special dishes on weekends.
Here's a post that describes South Asian Foods:

Not sure if you are up for the suburbs - but there is a fanastic indian buffet in east bloomington called Surabhi. http://www.surabhicuisine.com/Surabhi...
The website does not state the menu but it has a great assortment. Address:517 West 98th Street. Buffet is only open for lunch.
If you just want to go for dinner - their chicken tikka masala is to die for.

Unfortunately, Surabhi is now a pit of construction, RIP.
Marla's (in uptown on the corner of Lake and Emerson) has a weekend buffet, which also includes some Carribean dishes. I haven't eaten the weekend buffet in years, but their weekday version and regular menus are pretty tasty.

Mysore Cafe on Hennepin in Uptown only serves a buffet on weekend evenings. It's pretty good South Indian. Vegetarian only, I believe.

I know that Tandoor India has a weekend buffet but if you really want to start learning about Indian food head to Bombay2Deli. They have a number of dishes that they only make on the weekends and you can still get their normal lunch special of 2 curries bread and pickle for $5.50. So for less than $10 you can try as many dishes as you'll get at a buffet. Furthermore the owner is extremely helpful and friendly (I forgot her name).
