Single Malt Scotch
I am looking for suggestions for liquor stores in the Manhattan area that have a good selection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. I found a few via google (Astor, Ehrlich, Park Avenue, etc) but I cannot tell if they have larger selections in their stores than they do online. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

i was in search of a bottle of Single Malt Scotch for a gift several yrs ago. i needed a place with a huge selection b/c the person for whom the gift was intended had a great collection already. those in the know at the office recommended the following place. i've pasted the link to the 3-page list of malt scotches below the contact info:
Gotham Wines & Liquors
2517 Broadway
New York, New York 10025
212-932-0990

I felt they had a great selection and were very helpful. good luck.

I might be biased because I live nearby but Astor Wines never does me wrong. I don't drink scotch but my boyfriend does, and they were extremely helpful in helping to pick out a nice bottle as a gift. They had a good variety -- maybe 50 different kinds, in all price ranges.

Crossroads on 14th St just east of 6th Ave (on the north side)

There is a liquor store on Madison Avenue between 40th and 41st that has a nice selection and the people there are quite knowledge. Not sure what the name of it is though.

Thats Park Ave Liquor store. Huge selection, very helpful staff. The scotch buyer helped me pick out a great bottle of scotch last time. Asked what type of scotch I like and walked be through bottles I wouldn't have thought of based on my tastes and i wound up with a great bottle of vatted whiskey called Peat Monster which I never would've picked on my own.

Thought that might be Park Avenue Liquors, but I wasn't sure. I work 2 blocks from there so, on every few Fridays in the winter, a co-worker and I will make a "scotch run" to there.

Park Ave Liquors on Madison has the best SM selection I've seen outside of Scotland. For sampling try the bar @ Keen's w/about 200 SMs.

Post above hit it right on the head. Park Ave Liquors is the place. A GC to Keen's isnt a bad supplement as a gift either they do have an amazing selection there. An entire menus worth.

You're absolutely correct, literally, with Park Ave.

astor definitely has a wide and varied selection of scotches among the throngs of other things.

in addition to single malts, Park Liquors also used to be one of the only places in the city with a selection of rhum agricoles.

Try 67 Wine on 179 Columbus Ave, closer to 68 St I think.
Decent selection to be had.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate the options provided. I think I should be able to find some good options at the suggested stores.
The suggestion about the Whisky selection at Keens prompted me to look up other Whisky bars. It looks like St. Andrew's Pub and the Brandy Library have some good whiskies. Has anyone tried the Single Malt Saturdays at the Brandy Library? Is it worth a visit?
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

As far as stores, when I really want something, I go to Astor or Park Ave. Astor seems to have some of the rarer Americans. I've seen bourbons there that I have never seen elsewhere.
Park seems to have the brands that I know imported and tough to find. My wife once went in and bought me Green Spot, an Irish whiskey not imported to the U.S. according to the owner of the brand. Park Ave. had it.
The best selection of any bar or restaurant by reputation is at Hole In One, 1003 Second Ave.
