Indonesian in San Diego?

I've tried doing a couple searches for Indonesian restaurants in the SD area, but have come up short. I thought I'd check here in case I'm missing anything.

Indonesian is my favorite cuisine. I love the heat and the incredibly complex blend of spices. Bali Thai is OK; there are better places in LA but not by much. Better yet in the Bay Area.

I've never understood why this wonderful cuisine isn't popular in the US, especially in coastal Southern California where people regularly travel to Indonesia for recreation.

I think it's a matter of the number of immigrants who live within a certain area. We just don't have enough Indonesian immigrants living in San Diego to build and support restaurants.

There's only one Indonesian restaurant in SD area. It's called Bali Thai (http://www.balithai.com/).

I've been there... 3 times in the past 2 1/2 years. The food is not bad... but it's on the pricey side compared to the "cafetaria" style place you can find in LA area. Of course, the food at ones in LA are better since they have a much larger Indonesian population in LA area. But Bali Thai is good to satisfy my cravings once in a while.

Thanks! We actually headed there and enjoyed it. The food was a bit pricey like you mentioned, but it was certainly good for a fix. I had guests in town from the Midwest...where there's nothing even close to real INdonesian so this was a good recommendation!
