Sunday brunch at Madeleines, Pasadena

We tried to go to Derek's Bistro for Sunday brunch because of the rave reviews here, but they were closed. So we called Madeleines and found out that they have Sunday brunches, so we headed over there. We haven't been here since it had been Halie before, and had no idea there was patio seating. It was so lovely! It's a small courtyard surrounded by a two-story brick exterior.

We were first served a complimentary plate of fresh persimmon, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, and oranges, thoughtfully arranged. We ordered the brioche French toast and their California omelette -- very good.

The main restaurant itself is very beautiful and located on Green Street, which is very European. The service was excellent: personable and attentive, they had a good choice of music (jazz), the food was high caliber, and being in that absolutely charming patio tucked inside Green Street made us feel like we found a hidden gem.
