I've tried El Castillo de Jaguar, but found it lacking (too thin, not rich enough). Where oh where can I get a toe-tinglingly good cafe con leche?
La Caridad 78 on 78th and Broadway. Taza de Oro on 15th and 8th Avenue.
La Rosita, 109 and Bway
I thought La Rosita closed over 1 year ago, in fact I am pretty sure its gone.
Rosita is unfortunately gone. I loved that place. However, you could try Floridita which is around 125th and Broadway, it's been a good substitute for Rosita for me.
I used to get mine at Cafe Con Leche on Amsterdam between 80th and 81st (some years ago). But the best I have had in a long time is at Isla on Washington Ave. in Hoboken.
Be brave and get in a car and drive into Hudson County New Jersey where Cafe Con Leche is made in bodega's on many street corners.
It would have to be pretty darn good to justify the new $8 toll (peak). I rather go to Malecon :)
I've had some good ones at Despana and at La Tina's on 23d street.
Cuban Christmas Feast
Cuban pastries & cafe con leche?
Where can I buy Dulce de Leche?
