Coffee Dessert place near Englewood Cliffs, NJ

My wife & I usually go out without the kid Saturday nights.

Usually dinner or movie etc

When we are done we usually have trouble finding a place to go for coffee & maybe dessert.

One week we went to Cafe Angelique in Tenafly - good coffee - rude service, ice cold room & stale canoli

Last week we went to Kudo Beans in Fort Lee - good coffee, good service, stale pecan pie & we were the only caucasians in the place (not a big deal).

Anyone have any similar BUT better ideas

We live in Englewood Cliffs, but will travel some.

Thanks

  1. Try NewsBar on Main Street in Fort Lee; Also Coffee Tree in the Shopping Center on Palisade Avenue off of Main, (Includes Sally Ling's and Its Greek to Me)

    1. what about baumgart's in englewood cliffs??? they have amazing ice cream and the like.

      1. isn't there a spot in englewood on Dean called "room 4 dessert"? Have not tried, but I've seen something like it many times.

        1. I'm not a fan of Baumgart's--I think it is a tad overrated. I know downtown Englewood has had a nice facelift recently, and I'm sure there are nice things that have popped up there.

If you are willing to travel to Teaneck (two towns away), I would highly recommend Bischoffs. It's an old time ice cream parlor, and they sell hand made chocolates there too. It's a very fun place to go with kids--I remember my parents always taking us there, when we were young. You really feel like you are stepping back in time. One word of caution--last time I was there, I remember they only took cash.

          1. re: kimie

i'm with you, kimie, on Baumgarts...i think it's got kitch value, and that's about it...one of the alltime worst strawberry ice cream soda's i've ever had....double the rec. for Bishoff's for the real-deal ice cream parlor.

          2. Here's one nearby - I have never been there but it looks so unusual I had to bookmark for a future visit. They seem to have a pretty big dessert list (with a ton of ice cream sundaes):
