  1. One of the worst meals in the Bay Area in my life. I thought I was in the midwest at an overpriced fake Italian place.

they have just named a new chef, dont know if this helps. his name is peter mcnee.

He helped open Poggio, then left, and returned last August. Now that the executive Chef left (to go to Piatti), he has moved up in title and responsibility. But, I think he has been influencing the menu for some time.

    2. it's a glorified Il Fornaio (not an italian in the operation)...

If Umberto Gibin is still there, then there is at least one Italian and I seem to recall he introduced me to another Italian. Doesn't necessarily mean it is any good though....I didn't eat there.

        2. I've been there three times. One was fine, the other two were totally mediocre.Pricey too.I wouldn't return.

          1. Ate there with a girlfriend last week and had an outstanding meal.

Warm Goat cheese with crustini and pearsapp. (wow)
Endives with Gorgonzola, Walnuts, Figs & Honey (yum)
Pappardelle with Pancetta, Chicken & Cabbage
            Spinach Gnocchi with Beef Ragu

            with a great Charbono wine.

We were immersed in conversation and the waitstaff handled their intrusions perfectly.

            I would highly recommend!
