Where to buy fresh lemon grass?

Where can I buy fresh stalks of lemon grass in Los Angeles? I'm on the West Side but will drive whereever needed.

Pretty much any of the Vietnamese, Cambodian or Chinese grocery stores on Anaheim Bl. between the 710 freeway and Redondo Bl. in Long Beach.

Just drive down there, there are a ton.

I see it at the Saturday market at UCI in Orange County. Suggest you try a large open air market near you.

Any 99 Ranch carries fresh lemon grass as do many of the vendors at local Farmers Markets. As you are on the West Side I'm sure you could find it at the Santa Monica Farmers Market.

Some of the local fresh herb purveyors at the local farmers' markets carry it, too. I'm almost positive I've seen it at Pasadena. At this point, though, depending when you need it, you're probably better off at a high-end grocery store, or any Asian grocery store.

I know you probably really need fresh lemon grass, but I wanted to mention that I was stuck for some recently and went to Ralphs (Studio City) as I'd seen it there before. They didn't have any, but they did have a TUBE of prepared lemongrass. It's called 'Gourmet Garden' and has a kelly green lid.

It's been really handy to have in the fridge and does the trick with less prep.

Bangkok market on Melrose - west of Western is a great Thai market with fresh lemongrass and all of the other ingredients for a great Thai dinner. The fresh fish is also good.

I'm pretty sure all of the higher end grocery stores carry it. I know Gelson's carries it, and Whole Foods and Bristol Farms as well.
