Has anyone heard of Tribu Grill? Its supposed to be this new and tasty Filipino restaurant. I'm always on the lookout for a new Filipino restaurant.

I've been hearing about it from friends as well--very favorable reports. One woman said it was just like eating at a friend's house. (A high compliment in a food culture where the best meals are almost always in private houses.)

The two women who own and run it went to the same school I did back in Manila, and I had a chance to taste one of their dishes at a school reunion last year. It was a beef caldereta, a mildly spicy Filipino-Spanish braised beef dish, and I must say it was one of the best versions I've had anywhere.

I plan to try Tribu soon, and will post back. Hope to hear from you, too!

I've been to Tribu a few times already. The food is very good, and the menu is large enough so that you keep coming back for more. Seating is a bit weird because they use long tables, so you may end up sharing a table with another group. The waitresses are REALLY cute, which is definitely an added plus! Maganda!

I could be totally mistaken, but is this the new place that's painted orange that opened on El Camino Real around the border of San Bruno and Millbrae? I think I passed it on the way to Zen Peninsula a week or so ago and noticed the new paint/signs?

You are correct in the location. It's on El Camino Real in San Bruno, real close to SFO. A bright orange building with very little parking in front. One of the best filipino restaurants I've been to. I highly reccomend their fried rice! It has a special name that I escapes me at the moment, but it has mango, apples, beef, and bagoong (strange, but delicious!!!) I heard that they want to open another location in the north bay, perhaps Vallejo.
