Seniors Restaurant

Is there/was there a restaurant in Brooklyn named Seniors?

I used to eat at Seniors all the time. Miss it terribly. Would love the coleslaw recipe!

Ask Uncle Phaedrus, Detective; Finder of Lost Recipes. His site is amazing!

Their cole slaw, pickled cabbage (another good recipe to find), tomato, pickle plate was classic.

I think there was a Seniors around Nostrand avenue near avenue Z about 10 years ago?

yep, Senior's was on Nostrand and Z or thereabouts. But I think it closed way more than 10 years ago--more like 15? Went there as a teenager with my parents. They did have great stuffed cabbage and romanian steak.

I recall eating there as a youngster. Don't remember the name, but everytime I mentioned Senior's to someone out here, they always reply...YOU MEAN JUNIORS?

Seniors was a sheepshead bay institution for decades

In addition to Senior's, I'm sure that in the same shopping center was a Jahn's. I used to bike all the way there from the Glenwood Houses. I moved away from there in 1961 just to show you how long ago this was.

jahns was more or less across the street from seniors. famous for their kitchen sink concoction

Yes you are correct. Jahn's was across the street.

                  Is Jahn's still around? Anywhere?

the 37th ave location is actually in jackson heights. probably nowhere near the old days in sheepshead bay.

Yeah, I remmeber that place. My grandparents always used to take my brother and me there. Nothing special though.
