Top Dogs (from Berkeley) was in HK, although it's just the name, not the same store. The owners (Cal grads) couldn't keep it going.

Mac Dog in Shanghai (hard by People's Square, no less) has a logo that was copied from Top Dog's. The owner had worked for Top Dog as a student in Berkeley and was inspired to open Mac Dog by it, though it, too, has no connection to the beloved Berkeley Top Dog (which, incidentally, fed me 40 years ago).

I actually liked Fatburger. Tried the one in Las Vegas & it's wonderful!

I just ate the one in Venetian Macau a few days ago. The service was really slow, maybe it is new. They claimed they are voted as the favorite burger chain in LA and Las Vegas. Is this true? This is the first time I heard of this chain.

There's a cultish aspect to being a Foodie in LA, and "favorite" doesn't necessarily translate to "best." Tommy's was probably anointed a "favorite" at one time but noone would have claimed that its two-for-$1.29 (or whatever it was) cheeseburgers were the "best."

Actually, I think In-N-Out could also make that same claim, with a bit more validity.

At least Fatburger is better than McDonalds, so China's doing better.
