Maui - Kihei/Wailea recs for Hawaiian food

michaela Nov 15, 2007 08:02 PM

Going to Maui - the part with the big hotels. I'm sure we'll go to a few nice places (Tastings? Ferraro? Spago?) but we'd also like some good local food - I need my Lau Lau!

My fave is Ono's in Honolulu. I'm not expecting I'll find anything like that down in this part of Maui, but what's in that range? Are there any local eats outside Kahului?

And any other must-eat places down there, I'm all ears!

My husband, kids and I loved Da Kitchen for breakfast. Great omelets, loco moco, and french toast with portugese sausage. We went back another day at my son's insistence. And he's the finicky eater! Oh, and at $39 for the four of us including drinks, tax and tip, the cheapest meal of the week.
